PowerSchool Cheat Sheet for Teachers & Agreements
In PowerSchool there are two levels to input information:
- Assessment / Assignment
- Standard
Please see the cheat sheet below to remember what goes where, and also some important agreements that will be communicated to parents.
If you want something to show up in the Assessment Detail portion of the Student/Parent Portal, then you need to either assign a ‘status’ or a ‘grade’ to each standard you want to show.
Assessment / Assignment:
- Do not assign a grade (proficiency or frequency).
- Assign the status (collected, late, missing, exempt).
- If the assignment is missing, you must also mark each standard as missing (see below).
- If the status later changes (from missing to late), then you need to unclick missing or both statuses will display.
- Comment on the assignment. This is required if the standard does not have a grade (see below).
Note: the status and comment that is displayed on the Parent Portal is whatever is designated at the assignment level.
Standards:
- Designate a grade (proficiency or frequency) for each standard.
- If you do not assign a grade to a standard, then you must provide a comment on the assignment with anecdotal feedback.
- If the assignment is missing, you must also mark each standard as missing so that it will show up in the Assessment Detail portion of the parent portal.
